Description

As a Senior IT Network Administrator, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining the organization’s computer networks. The role plays a critical role in shaping the organization’s network strategy and ensuring that the network infrastructure is secure, efficient, and reliable

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Network Setup and Configuration: Design, set up, and configure computer networks, ensuring optimal connectivity and performance.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Continuously maintain network hardware and software, promptly resolving any technical issues or disruptions.
  • Security Implementation: Implement and manage security measures like firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems to safeguard against cyber threats.
  • User Support and Training: Provide technical support to end-users, assisting with network connections and ensuring they are equipped to use network resources effectively.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor network performance, identifying and addressing
    any bottlenecks or areas for improvement to maintain optimal operations.
  • Backup and Recovery Management: Establish and manage data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical information in case of network failures or data loss.
  • Documentation and Updates: Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including configurations and inventory, and manage software updates and security patches.
  • Collaboration and Compliance: Work closely with other IT professionals, ensuring network compliance with industry-specific regulations and standards.
  • Leadership and Continuous Improvement: Provide leadership and guidance to the cybersecurity team, reporting to senior management, and continuously enhance security processes, technologies, and practices in response to evolving threats.
  • Capacity Planning and Vendor Management: Forecast network capacity needs and plan for network expansion as the organization grows and collaborates with network hardware and software vendors for procurement, support, and maintenance.
  • Perform any other associated duties as delegated from time to time by the supervisor.

Academic & Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree or bachelor’s with relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is a plus.
  • Membership with relevant professional bodies such as ICTAZ etc.
  • Membership with relevant professional bodies such as ICTAZ, ISACA, etc.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven Network Administration Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in various network administration roles.
  • Virtualization: Experience with network virtualization technologies like VMware NSX or Cisco ACI.
  • Cloud Networking: Knowledge of cloud networking solutions and services, especially if the organization uses cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Network Infrastructure: In-depth knowledge of network architectures, protocols, and technologies, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, and SD-WAN.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Strong technical writing skills with the ability to communicate complex networking concepts effectively, including reporting to senior management and regulatory bodies.

Skills and Competencies

  • Network Security: Proficiency in implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and access control lists (ACLs).
  • Routing and Switching: Strong understanding of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF) and switching technologies (e.g., VLANs, STP).
  • Network Monitoring: Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, PRTG) to ensure network performance and availability.
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) to streamline network management tasks.
  • Troubleshooting: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve network issues quickly.
